When You Run Into Publishing Problems

Well, I will say the good thing is that I told everyone Bid for a Bride would be out March 1.  That means by March 1, the snafu in the Smashwords upload should be worked out.  My problem is that Bid for a Bride was a NaNo novel I put up in November for National Novel Writing Month.   So it’s labeled as a ‘work in progress’.  The problem?  I can’t change the status to ‘finished’.  So even though the book is finished, everyone who sees it will think it’s a work in progress.

Plus, as long as it’s a work in progress, I can’t qualify for premium distribution, which means this book cannot go to B&N, Sony, Diesel, Apple, and Kobo.  So that is the bulk of my problem at the moment.  I’m trying for a second upload, but Smashwords had a glitch in the system so I’m waiting roughly 8 to 12 hours for the upload to be complete.

So if anyone is wondering what in the world is going on, this is it.  I’ll have to explain it in less detail on my first draft blog when I make that post.  Yes, I am way behind in everything I need to do today.  It’s crazy around here.  I feel like this chick:

The only thing missing from this picture are the kids running around the house in circles, spilling water on the floor, screaming and laughing, and bumping into my chair.

I did try putting Bid for a Bride in the archives but Smashwords keeps giving me a ‘You already have this book on Smashwords’ message, so yeah…I’m a little stuck.  My nuclear option is to email Smashwords and ask them to help me out.  If I’m stuck in this same position tomorrow, that’s what I’ll be doing.

Please note: I am not complaining.  I’m just explaining why Bid for a Bride is not up on Smashwords yet.  😀

  1. Ha ha! I’m with you on being behind! I am ready to scream, lock myself in a closet and not come put for a month… LOL! Hope you got that worked out, since it is now after March 1st :p

    • I’d like to say I’m caught up, but I’m not. I did finally get the book up and running on Smashwords. What a relief! Now to work on the books that need to be reformmatted before I can get them through premium distribution. :-O
