Changing Word Count Goals on the Books I’m Working On

The good news is that after the past two months of feeling drained, I am finally at the point where I am ready to write new material.  My husband returns to South Korea tomorrow, so I’ll be putting myself back on a writing schedule.  I’m going to adjust a few of those goals because I’d rather go slower and get it “right” on these books than rush and sacrifice quality.

My priorities are Shotgun Groom and Isaac’s Decision because I get more emails about those two books than any others.  Shotgun Groom will come first, so I am going to plan 800 to 1000 words a day on that one.  Isaac’s Decision will come second, so my goal is 500 to 700 words a day for it.

Just Good Friends will have to be next year because rushing to the October deadline isn’t going to work.  The ideas for this book aren’t as clear as they are with Shotgun Groom and Isaac’s Decision.  So the new goal for Just Good Friends is 200 words a day.  That’ll put me at being done next fall.  I’d like to publish it in October 2012 since it is a holiday romance.  Timing on holiday books are important if you want to have maximum impact.  This is why holiday movies come out in the fall and no later than Christmas Day at the theater.

Bound by Honor, Bound by Love will stay at 200 words a day so the anticipated release date on that will be  Fall to Winter 2012.

As for Shotgun Groom, I believe I can have that out by December 2011.  If I can write 800 words a day (on average), I should have the rough draft done around November 1.

Then the first draft of Isaac’s Decision will hopefully be done by the end of December.  This will put the anticipated publishing date in February 2012.

I still have to put together a video for the Mandan lodges and artifacts.  So much to do, so little time.  😀  I hope to get that video up tomorrow.
