That is so important to me that all your characters have sex only after marriage and the leading men are as chaste as the women are expected to be! I just love that! So rare! But how it should be! Back in 2008, I got so fed up in not finding an author (besides Carolyn Davidson) who wrote these two main things in romances that I decided it was time to write the stuff I wanted to read. I started writing because I loved reading, so I think you could definitely write your own books. People who are excited about reading seem to have the best story ideas. I think it’s the passion for reading to begin with that come into their stories. What I love most about reading books is that I get imagine myself as the heroine while anyone can be my hero. It’s fun to pretend. But I don’t do that with stories I write. For some reason, my characters are always separate and unique from it. It’s weird how that works, but it’s part of why I enjoy to read.

Well, Ruth Ann, the Highlands is something to look forward to, although I truly do love your Western Series in various States!
I was wondering, since I’ve been reading different State Series…is there a LIST of the Titles in each State? I mean, I read 9 of them in Nebraska and I noticed that you have cross referenced some of your characters. My problem is, that I really hate to read things out of context. That’s why I was wondering what the Order of each States Series is in. I sure you understand or you wouldn’t have gone through the trouble of doing all those little bits of trivia. LOL
Right now I’m reading the 4th book ‘Romancing Adrienne’ in the Virginia Series. But I HAD to read ‘The Path To Christmas’ before I started it! 😉 Yes, you are a sly one but I love each and every reference!
I also noted a reference about Eliza Sweet in the Nebraska Series, so I need to know if I should read the other 2 books (or are there more?) before I read anything else?
So now you understand my dilemma, can you tell how to read each State?

Eye of the Beholder was the book that got me hooked on writing romance, esp. the historical westerns. 🙂 I had written a couple of romances, but Eye of the Beholder had something about it that spawned more books (mainly the ones with Dave’s brothers and sisters). From there, I got more ideas for romance. I had started out writing some fantasy and thrillers. Romance was supposed to be a temporary diversion. As it turned out, it became my main focus. 🙂 I love writing romance more than any other genre.

I do not always read them right away because I like to read the entire series together. I also like to read a variety of books. I like crime thrillers, para-normals, shape-shifters, science fiction, and romances. I have a very difficult time putting your books down. and I am always thrilled when another one comes out. “Return of the Aliens” is pretty much tucked away into past books I’ve done. I enjoyed writing that book. It was fun to try something different, and I’m glad you enjoyed it! Like you, I love reading a variety of books. For some reason, mystery is the one genre I can’t seem to get into. Ironically, it was the genre my parents loved. 🙂
I definitely want to write a Scottish Highlander book. I even got a book on Scottish history. I just don’t know when I can get around to writing it.

Thank you, Carol! Of all the heroes I’ve ever done, Dave is still the most popular, which is awesome because Eye of the Beholder was the book that got me hooked on historical western romances. I don’t have any plans to stop writing them. It might be a while before I touch another contemporary since my heart is mostly in historical romances.
When I finish Groom For Hire, I plan to start on Sep’s story. (I can’t remember if I gave him a last name. He was April’s younger brother in Shotgun Groom, but her name was Edwards, which was her married name. I need to go back and see if I ever called Sep with a last name.) But anyway, he’ll be the hero in that one. Then I want to bring in Richard and Amanda’s twin sons since they’re close to Sep’s age. That should work for one series. And I do want to finally get to Vivian and Hugh’s story since people keep asking about that one. I’ll have to see if any of the Larsons match up to their age group so I can include them. I would like to work on both series for late this year through next. I have lots of plans for more historical westerns. 🙂

There are a couple of ways you can do this.
You can sign up for the Email List. The link is above to sign up to it. The process gets a bit complicated since the EU law was passed saying that people (like me) need to be double sure someone wants to receive emails. Because of that, there’s a couple of steps you need to go through at Mailchimp in order for them to know I’m not spamming you. I never spam because I hate it, but since some authors have, we all have to go through this process. I know it’s a pain.
If you would like to get emails once a month that let you know what I’m working on and when something new is published, I have a monthly newsletter blog at https://ruthannnordinnewsletter.com/. There’s a “Follow” option on the right side at the top (right under the header) where you can put your email address in. Then when I make a new post, WordPress will send you the post directly to your inbox.
I also make the announcements on this blog if you put your email in the “Follow” the blog option, but I make a lot of other posts over here, too. I do about one to two posts a week. I’m not sure if you want that many emails. Personally, I think the newsletter blog or email list are the best options.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask. But to quickly address the Wyoming Series, The Outlaw’s Bride is already out. It’s free everywhere but Amazon. I have been unable to get Amazon to price match it. The Rancher’s Bride will be due out June 27. I don’t have a release date for The Fugitive’s Bride yet. It all depends on when the book is finished, and I’m about halfway through it right now.
I recently just read your updates and saw the marriage by fairy tales series is complete. I was hoping that Lord Tumbledore would come back with his own story. 😊 I loved the series!
I have to warn you that I never did write about Lord Tumbledore. The series never went in that direction even though I originally thought it would. Sorry to break the bad news.
Will there be a book for Jeremiah from the Wyoming series?
No. Jeremiah won’t get his own book. He does get his happy ending, but I wrap it up in Wade’s story.

I’m rereading your Native American series. I love them, my favorite being Chogan and Julia, but while I was reading I was wishing we could have a short love story about her Aunt Erin and Woape’s father. The older I get the more I want to read about older people finding love or love again. Was wondering if you ever thought about a quick novella for the two of them?

Regarding Erin and Woape’s father, I have no idea what to even write about them. There would have to be some plot, and my mind is blank. Since you read my historical westerns, I could put in an older two characters in the western series I just started. The first book is Tagalong Bride and that couple is young, but I have a few other characters to introduce and I can make them any age. What age are you looking for? In the 40s or 50s? Let me know your thoughts. This new series is an open slate so I have plenty of room for new ideas.
As an aside, The Loner’s Bride features a hero in his 40s, but the heroine is 20 so I don’t know if that’s a book you’re looking for or not. I will still be happy to bring in two older characters in the new series.

I will say I love when there is a single parent in like there late 30’s or early 40’s or even older finding love again and that person loving the children like they love their own, but I also love the young love finding each other in unexpected ways. That frees me up to make the characters any age I want them to be, and I can always give one of them a child or two. I’ll be happy to insert such a character into the series. I love your writing and I’ve read all of the western books. One particular thing I’ve just noticed (because I started Re-reading some books/series) is that you wrote Mary as an exceptionally cook, but on later books you had Sep’s wife being a better cook than her and also in Annabelle’s book the same with Ben her husband. I’m not saying they can’t be better, but why kinda discredit her like that? Mary as a character -that I enjoyed reading about-would enjoy knowing others are better than her. Just a thought in the middle of the night. Sorry about that. This question/thought process doesn’t take away how much I enjoy reading and re-reading your wonderful work. Should we expect more western books, maybe expect more Larsons? Thank you
Hi Jo! First, thank you for letting me know how much you enjoy my westerns. I am finally working on another western, but this is going to be a new series where I am introducing new characters. I felt it would be nice to have something different for a change. I have never done anything out in the Arizona desert, so I decided that is where those book will take place. I’ll be talking more about it in my blog posts as I get more into the story. I would love to have it out before the end of this year. * knock on wood*
I’m not really sure what you mean by discrediting Mary. Do you mean that Mary should know that other characters think that someone else is cooking is better, or do you think I should’ve kept it as just Mary being better than everyone else? I don’t know if you have read Daisy’s Prince, Charming or not, but one of the main themes was Daisy feeling inferior to Mary, and I was using this aspect to assure Daisy that her new husband loved her so much that everything she made tasted better than anything Mary could make. Mary knew about how Daisy felt, and given Mary‘s past with being insecure and other areas, Mary was supportive of Daisy and would not make her apple pies because she did not want to outshine Daisy. To be honest, I figured that Mary never knew about Angela or Ben rivaling her in her cooking skills. The only person Mary was aware of who rival her was Daisy. I’m not sure how Mary would’ve felt if she had known about that. I don’t really get to know how characters feel about things, unless I’m writing the story with them in a particular situation, that probably sounds strange since on the author, but the best way I find out anything about a character is by writing them into a scene. Anyway, I’ll stop rambling. I’m really glad that you reached out to me. It was fun to hear what you thought. 🙂
