Some oddities that I thought I’d pass along…
1. People who have rated one of my books at 1 or 2 stars, but then they decide to read another one. Does this mean she read other books she liked and is saying, “Well, that one book was a flop but the others aren’t?” Or is she taking her chances and reading another in hopes it’ll be good? I’m not going back and seeing if she reviews it. I’ve had people habitually read my books and give me one bad review after another. I assume this might be the same scenario, though…
Why in the world would people subject themselves to books by authors they already can’t stand?
Hmmm….
2. Attack of the grammar police. They’re here!
They are the vampires of writing who like to suck out all notion of creativity. They are oblivious to the idea that each writer has their own unique voice (see? I technically just made a grammar boo boo but I did it for emphasis). I find it’s usually other writers that do this kind of thing, and I’ve deducted that there are two types of writers out there: those who will support you and those who are competing with you. It’s the type that competes that make up the harshest critics. I spot these people early on. These are the ones who will dig through your stuff to nitpick at the stupidest things.
Why would these people worry about little old “you” and how you’re writing when they could be doing something productive with their lives…like improving their work?
Hmmm….
3. People who write authors and say something that has nothing to do with their books? Unless you’re the author’s friend or have established a relationship with the author on an acquaintance level, this actually creeps an author out. These people will send emails that are so far off topic, the author can only sit there and think, “Huh?” Case in point: “Hey read your book. Cool. We’re having a fundraiser at my job for the one eyed giraffes in Africa who want some trees planted around them.”
Ooookkkkayyyy. And this has to do with the author’s book because….? Unless this author writes about these animals, why would they care?
This makes me wonder, do these people actually read the author’s book or do they see the cover of a book is yellow and decide it matches what they are doing?
Hmmm…

I find number 1 the most interesting. It’s like what? they expect it to be completely different? or do they want book they don’t like? It makes no sense!
I know. It makes no sense to me either.
