Anyone Out There in the Omaha Area Who Would Like to go to a Book Festival in July?

There is a writing group here in Nebraska where they are thinking of having a book festival on July 21-22. Right now, they are trying to get an idea of how much interest there would be for readers to meet up with local authors. The genres will vary, and it’s been years since I did anything with this writing group, but Janet Syas Nitsick, my author friend, is a member of the group and has been active in it all these years. She is the one who told me about this possible event.

Since I am back in Omaha, I can go to something like this and meet with readers in person. I thought it would be fun to hand out one free signed paperback to any of my readers who showed up to something like this so they could say hi to me. A lot of you have been with me since the early days in 2010 to 2012 when I was just learning the ropes of being a self-published author. And it’s because of you that I’m still doing this today. Believe me, your encouragement and support over the years has been greatly appreciated.

So I thought I’d see if anyone reading this would be interested in going to downtown Omaha to this festival. Please let me know in the comments. Then I can pass along the number of people who are interested to the people who are thinking of putting this event together.

That sounds really wonderful. I wish I lived close because I would definitely attend. Let me know if they do anything over Zoom. Have a super day today.

    • I hadn’t thought about that, but maybe sometime in the future, I can get something going with my author friend, Janet Nitsick. I have such a hard time knowing what to say in a video. I would need her with me to help me loosen up. Between the two of us, she’s the outgoing one.

I’m all in if you decide to do a zoom. I did check the time to drive just out of curiosity. It would have been a long one:) I’m sure you will have a nice crowd. I’ve been listening to a couple books on Google Play this week. It’s a giggle when the AI gets a word wrong, but it doesn’t hurt the overall enjoyment of the book. Thanks for writing.

        • I’ve been listening to AI, too, and I keep wondering why “rose” is pronounced like rosay whenever I have “eyebrows rose”. Some of the other stuff makes me laugh. I’ve listened to some other authors’ AI audiobooks. I got so used to it, I automatically correct it in my mind. I suspect that AI will get better at it. I have each book selected to improve as AI gets updated.

As an aside, I’m sure the drive would be awful. It wore me out to go from Great Falls to Omaha, especially going through Wyoming. I thought Montana was bad, but there’s nothing in that state on the drive from Montana to Rapid City. In the dark, there were so few people on the interstate, it made me think of what things would be like if I was the only person left alive in the world. That was a bit freaky. You can sure see the stars out there, though. 😀

Someday, I’d like to be where there is no light pollution and I can really see the stars. I bet that was really beautiful on your drive. Glad you are safely settled in Omaha. Live the dream.

  2. Oh, how I wish I wasn’t so far away.
